Legends are walking archives
I am honoured to have been chosen as the first 20 storytellers to be part of the inaugural living legends multimedia training programme hosted by the JT Communication Solutions in partnership with the department of Arts and Culture. During this programme we attended master classes covering topics such how to extract information for a specific purpose, using Facebook to build you business, packaging archive content for distribution for diverse multimedia platforms and lessons on how to profile legends and how to develop an arts and culture history and knowledge base, facilitated by some of the brightest minds in the media, arts and culture industries. During the three weeks of training and interacting with the legends it became clear that the responsibility of putting our stories on multimedia platforms rests on the current crop of storytellers, videographers, photographers, journalist, bloggers and reporters. A duty we need to do with great care.
Legends who built our industries are often forgotten with no much work meaning their earning capabilities have been reduced and many issues plaque them with no support and care of the industries the help establish. Therefore more than just documenting stories and making sure the legacy of our legends is preserved, putting a spot light on our living legends will help address issues that will even assist young to better prepare for their retirement years.
